The biggest penis I’ve ever seen!

April 1st, 2009 by jbp

Hey you out there! Don’t get too hasty now, but I mean what I just said. I haven’t seen too many of them though, this one was the biggest amongst all.

Every year on March 15 a huge two and a half meter wooden phallus is carried the short distance between two shrines attracting visitors from all over Japan and international media attention. The festival is fun with a lot of sake drinking, however the background of the festival is rather more serious. A shrine is a place of worship. It houses divine spirits and preserves the memory and practice of many aspects of Japanese culture. This file is intended to introduce some of the history, mythology, rituals, and customs of Tagata Jinja.

Tagata Jinja is a Shinto shrine in Komaki just north of Nagoya, and as such is just one of many that can be found throughout Japan. It symbolizes the strong spatial and temporal linkage of the people to the community of Komaki, which until comparatively recently was a farming area. The Hounen festival at Tagata shrine is one of the most famous (or infamous?) festivals in Japan. Amongst foreigners visiting Aichi Prefecture it is frequently referred to as the “penis shrine”, or “Japanese penis festival”, primarily due to the ancient Hounen Matsuri (a festival celebrating fertility and renewal), which is held here every March 15th.

Any festival is not complete without these take home souvenirs!

In my thoughts

In silence I find peace.

Or so I thought.

In reverie I find solace.

Alone, I am lost.

Forever.

A murky tomorrow

March 14th, 2007 by jbp

I have been thinking for the past
days, for what life can offer ahead of me.  There are so many things
happened. Some happened abruptly and unintentionally. There are things
that I have to leave behind and face a new beginning. There are times
that I would look back when I was under my parents care. Not minding
anything, carefree. When problems hit me, I would just stay home, be
close to my mom’s side, and I would feel comforted. Now, things has
changed. Mom is too far away to console me. You have to be strong and
firm that you have to do it on your own, otherwise you’ll fail. You
have to decide on your own. trying to weigh things, asking yourself how
and why did it happened. Yes, they say that shortcomings are essential
to ones life, for us to learn and grow along the way. These essentials
are a bit difficult to play, you have to even think twice to make sure
winning is on your side. Sometimes we need to get hurt in order to
feel. We need to fail for us to learn how to succeed. But giving up is
definitely not an option.  How can you achieve your goals when you have
stopped trying? As long as one can still breathe, it means life doesn’t
end there. As for me, I really don’t know what is there for me
tomorrow, or the next day. All I have to do is to live each day at a
time. Be thankful for everything I have, and be thankful to people I
love, for tomorrow might not come.

Di man na siguro sad dautan.

Ayo-ayo,

June

Back at WWPI

After
eleven longs months, I never thought I be coming back to my previous
work as a callgirl at Western Wats.  Since I resigned from that office,
I been telling myself that workin in a call center for my next job is
my last resort!  Never did I realize it that I just ate my own words
when I started calling "ass white" people again, and introducing myself
as Maia Gomez! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.. It’s all coming back to me now.
Everytime I receive a call, it feels like I never quit my job, that I
just rested for a while, maybe.  I resigned for so many reasons.  Now,
I’m back with more reasons too!  I’m planning to take up masters degree
in the evening.  The only company that could cater to my needs is this
one.

To whatever reasons I have, it’s inevitable that I’d be
marking footprints on Wats’ floor.  Bugging people, having fun with
them especially with my good old friends.  I just miss you guys!  I am
just so glad that I’m back! :D

The quick fox and the lazy dog

September 13th, 2006 by jbp

This is my article in reply to an ad on the paper that asked:  "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.  Where’s the cat?"

A story told by
Yuna Maldita

One
day in a not so distant place a fox named Foxie is out in the wild to hunt for
food.  After hours of sleep the fox went through the forest looking for
prey.  As Foxie smelled his way through the deep dark forest with tall and
big trees all over, he heard a very loud growl.  Keeping himself down, he
became more cautious and attentive to any vicious predator that would come his
way.  In a stealth mode, slowly and quietly he followed the headwater of
the sound.  Moving his way deeper into the forest he ran and hid himself
at times.

Foxie
could see some light coming from the far end of the forest.  He
immediately ran into it to check if the sound came from that area.  When
he reached the far end, he was petrified with what he saw, a beautiful meadow
with wild flowers all over the place.  Foxie couldn’t resist what he just
saw and ran around, rolled over as he savored the fresh and clean air.

It
was not long enough when Foxie felt something around the bushes.  He
immediately hid himself to be safe for any troubles that would come any
minute.  As he was on his defensive mode, a great big dog named Doggie
came out from the forest running around gleefully.  Wagging its tail and
rolling over like there’s no tomorrow.  When Doggie got tired he
positioned himself at the middle and try to get a nap.

From the fox’s view, he saw what the dog was doing. He thought of something to do if any prey would pass nearby.  He then saw a little prey just around the bushes.
Foxie thought of outwitting his rival to get the prize for himself.  While
Doggie was at his thing, the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog!
Foxie ran as fast as he could for him to catch the fresh and tempting prey
that’s been hiding behind the bushes.  He pounced and caught some fresh
meat and ran his way far from the meadow back to the fox’s hole.  He ate
himself through and felt so tired and fell asleep in an instant.  Back in
the meadows, the lazy dog just slept his way through the end of the day.
Not minding what tomorrow would bring him as long as he is saved for the day.

And
this is the story of the quick brown fox that jumped over the lazy dog.
Say what?  The cat?  Oh! The cat! You’re asking where’s the
cat?  Well, the clever cat was just watching the incident the whole
time!  Catty thought that she was safer on her side of the meadows,
grooming and watching as the fox and the dog gave their fair share in the
circle of life!

Very funny Peter…

You might wanna try this guys.. it’s cool! (at least for me)

Recognize me now!

To Mr. J.

Remember my previous blog item Just a thought?
Well, yeah it was about some guy who’s willful enough to write despite
his meagerness in grammar but graspable enough to be understood.

"Article
of Success" is the title of his most recent blog item.  I read it the
moment  I saw his item.  He was trying to say that whatever we do in
life, whatever our status would be, we can be successful if we just put
our heart and soul in it.  The message he was trying to tell to his
readers is very clear.  Direct to the point, despite the paucity in the
way he writes.  I want to quote again what I wrote in my previous item
entitled A writer’s point of view "
Writing
is not just about “to write”, but to believe in being a writer  yours
elf
".
Maybe he does believe in himself.  And I believe that one day, he could
be a good writer.  He just need to follow his heart, continue to
write.  Continue to touch people’s lives with his experiences and
ideas.

As for me, I’d still be one of his avid reader.  Someone who cheers in his success.  Again, goodluck Mr. J.
